There are several ways to install multitouch patch, but in this guide i’ll use patch that comes with latest samdroid kitchen v2 (kernel LK2.09.4).  LK2.09.4 includes patches for multitouch from Gabriel-LG (v2b), camera bug fix from antibyte and new superuser 2.3.5.

How to install

Note: Use this guide at your own risk and always make a backup before applying new updates.

Without base package

Use this if you want to install kernel patch  without samdroid v2 package. You must at least have kernel LK2.02 installed to install the patch via recovery.

• Go to samdroid kitchen v2 page
• On ‘Base Packages‘ options, choose ‘Light Package‘
• On ‘Kernel’ options, choose ‘Kernel [LK2.09.4 (Multitouch from Gabriel-LG v2b + antibyte camera bugfix2 + Superuser 2.3.5)]‘
• Scroll down the page (skip the other options) and click ‘Cook‘ button to download the zip file (SamdroidMod-(###)_update.zip). The samdroid update zip file size is about 3.8 mb .
• Download multitouch fix zip file from here (Sdm_MultitouchFix.zip)
• Copy the two update zip files into sdcard
• Reboot into recovery
• Select  ’Apply any zip from SD‘
• Select samdroid update zip file
• Do the same for multitouch fix zip file
• Reboot and check the multitouch support, you can download Multitouch Vis Test application from Market to test multitouch support.

With base package (Recommend, stable)

Use this if you want to install kernel patch with samdroid v2 package. You must at least have kernel LK2.02 installed to install the patch via recovery.

• Go to samdroid kitchen v2 page
• On ‘Base Packages‘ options, choose ‘SamdroidMod Version 1.3.1.deodexed [XXJH1] (Android 2.1)‘ and ‘Light Package‘
• On ‘Kernel’ options, choose ‘Kernel [LK2.09.4 (Multitouch from Gabriel-LG v2b + antibyte camera bugfix2 + Superuser 2.3.5)]‘
• Choose your prefered packages on the other options. For ‘Home‘ options, LauncherPro is really recommended (smooth & fast launcher)
• Click ‘Cook‘ button to download the zip file (SamdroidMod-(###)_update.zip). The file size is about 80-100 mb depends on your selected packages
• Download multitouch fix zip file from here (Sdm_MultitouchFix.zip)

• Copy the two update zip files into sdcard
• Reboot into recovery
• Select Wipe → Wipe data/cache
• Select  ’Apply any zip from SD‘
• Select samdroid update zip file
• Do the same for multitouch fix zip file
• Reboot
• First booting may take a long time, especially between logo and boot animation, just wait.
• Check the multitouch support, you can download Multitouch Vis Test application from Market to test multitouch support.

How to Install

• Download and install Java SDK (Ex: jdk-6u20-windows-i586.exe)
• Download Android SDK package (Ex: android-sdk_r06-windows.zip)
• Extract SDK package into anywhere on your drive (Ex: D:\android-sdk-windows)

Phone Setup

In order to use ADB, you have to enable USB Debugging option in  phone settings (Settings->Applications->Development)

How to Use

• Connect the phone to your pc/notebook usb port
• Run Windows command line tool (cmd) and go to D:\android-sdk-windows\tool

Update!!

New Android SDK puts adb executable file on \platform-tools directory instead of tool. So the path should be D:\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools

If you get ‘#’ after typing adb shell, you are already get root access on the phone, no need to type su. Otherwise if you get ‘$’ , type ’su’ to get root access (only for rooted device).

• rm

Remove file or directory

Syntax: rm [options] file

Example:

#rm /system/lib/libsec-ril.so

4. Install application

You can use adb to install aplication from your local drive into  phone.

Syntax: adb install appname.apk

Example:

D:\android-sdk-windows\tools\adb install D:\AnReboot.apk

5. Copy files from phone to local drive

Syntax: adb pull source [destination]

Example:

D:\android-sdk-windows\tools\adb pull /sdcard/arm11-dvm.zip

D:\android-sdk-windows\tools\adb pull /sdcard/arm11-dvm.zip D:\

Syntax: adb push source destination

How to apply:

• Create a new page and publish it
• Edit the  header.php file located in the current active theme directory
• Find the wp_list_pages function, add the argument exclude = id, where id is the id of the page that will be excluded. Use commas to separate each id if you want to exclude more than one pages, e.g. wp_list_pages ( ‘exclude = 20,21′).

GStaticMap is a Wordpress plugin that lets you embed Google static map easily in your blog pages without using an <img> tag. Using Google Apps, you can host your domain’s email at Google mail server. All incoming and outgoing emails are stored at Google mail server so they can be accessed through Gmail under your domain.

Standard Edition offers 7GB email quota per user which is the same amount of storage as regular Gmail account. You  can also add up to 50 user per domain. If you plan to use Google Apps with a large number of users, Premium Edition is a good choice, and of course you will be charged amount of money of using it. In this tutorial, i’ll use the Standard Edition of Google Apps which is free of charge and suitable for a small group or community.

Ok,  before starting this tutorial, i assume you have met the following requirements:

• You already have a domain that hosted on a hosting company.
• You have the privilege to perform server administration tasks such as uploading file and changing MX records.

Getting Started

1. Sign Up

• Go to Google Apps Standard Edition page and click the Get Started button.

• Enter your domain name, eg: yourdomain.com and select the Administrator: I own or control this domain option then click Get Started button.

• Create your administrator account and remember the username and password correctly. You will use this username to login to Google Apps and create another users for your domain.

2. Domain Verification

• Before activating your account,  you have to verify that you are the owner of  your domain . There are two available methods to perform domain verification, by uploading a HTML file to your  hosting server or by changing a CNAME record. Choose which is suitable for you, in this tutorial i’ll use the first method, by uploading an HTML file, which is simple and easy to perform.

• Create a HTML file named googlehostedservice.html and copy the specified text avilable into it.
• Upload the googlehostedservice.html to your hosting server so it can be accessed under http://yourdomain.com/googlehostedservice.html. Click I’ve completed the steps above to verify.

• After verification success, you have to wait for 48 hours before you can use Google applications.

3. Create Users

After setup completed, you can create user accounts so everyone on your domain will be able to log in, access Google applications, and have their own customized e-mail address.

To create new user:

• Click Users and Groups menu on the right side of Dashboard menu.
• Click Create New User link and enter the First name, Last name and Username. The username is needed to log in to access Google Apps. The username will also be the basis for their customized email address. For example, a new username of lorensius.wlt will have an email address of lorensius.wlt@yourdomain.com.
• By default, Google will create a temporary password for each new account, but you can customize a new password by click the Set Passoword link and enter the new password.

4.  Set Up Email Access

In order to access your email through Gmail, you need to change the Mail Exchange (MX) records on your domain’s host. In this tutorial, i’ll explain how to change MX records on Cpanel based domain hosting services. Google also provides  extensive instructions on how to do this for many domain hosting company at a page when you open your Email application (before MX records update process done).

How to change MX records using Cpanel:

• Login to your Cpanel account

It can take up to 48 hours for Google to verify your domain ownership, and to setup your e-mail once you change the mail records. Once you have completed all of the above steps, you will have activated your service and will be able to utilize Google Apps with your domain.

5. Email Access

To access Gmail application for your domain, use http://mail.google.com/a/yourdomain.com and log in with your username and password. You can add sub domain such as mail.yourdomain.com and redirect it to your Gmail address.

WvDial consists of two main components which must be run as root:

• wvdial, the pppd dialer that dials the modem
• wvdialconf, is used to build configuration file for wvdial

How to connect:

• Run wvdialconf to generate a configuration file, /etc/wvdial.conf, that contains information about modem and ISP.

• The generated /etc/wvdial.conf should look something like this

• Remove the ‘;’ character from the Phone, Username, and Password line and replace the <Target Phone Number>, <Your Login Name>, and <Your Password> with the dial number, username and password from your ISP.
• The final configuration should look something like this (one line are added to suit with my ISP settings)

• Run wvdial to connect to internet

• To disconnect, use Ctrl+C to terminate the wvdial.

Notes:

By default, wvdial will copy DNS address from ISP to /etc/resolv.conf, but in Fedora 12 you have to copy it manually (seems to be a bug).
